Winter Safety Reminders

Whether snowmobiling or sledding, if you choose to drive over a frozen lake, you do so at your own risk. You can never simply
expect a frozen body of water to be solid even if it looks smooth and debris-free. Even frozen lakes and rivers can have nearly
invisible logs, rocks, cracks and ice heaves that can appear suddenly and knock you into the water.

Know what to do if you fall through the ice:

The initial shock of icy water can cause you to hyperventilate. Slow your breathing and keep control over it until you can be
rescued. If heavy equipment or protective gear like a helmet are obstructing your ability to climb out, calmly remove them and
use the elbow-to-elbow method to crawl out. Once you’ve made it to shore, give us a call and we’ll come on-site to recover your
vehicle.
